It’s Tuesday. You know what it is, so let’s talk.
Yesterday I visited one of my favorite restaurants for lunch. I ordered my usual and went about my day. After I finished my meal I noticed a fortune cookie at the bottom of my bag. Usually, the fortune cookies I get remain unopened and end up in the trash, but I hadn’t opened one in a while so I decided to see what it said. I’m so glad I decided to open it because it had just what I needed to hear. It said “we must overcome difficulties rather than being overcome by them”.
Now I don’t know about you, but this fortune cookie seemed less like a fortune and more like a word. Usually fortune cookies say silly things like “you will face little difficulties in life”, but this was real advice. This fortune encouraged me to stay strong. Challenges will come and I might end up feeling sad, but I can’t stay in that sadness. Instead of viewing it as a loss, I need to see it as a lesson. I have to get up and keep going.
So let’s talk. What does “we must overcome difficulties rather than being overcome by them” mean to you? Let me know in the comments section below.
